Josef Stalder

Josef Stalder (born 6 February 1919 - 2 March 1991) was a Swiss gymnast and Olympic Champion. He competed at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London where he received a gold medal in ''horizontal bar'', a silver medal in ''team combined exercises'', and a bronze medal in ''parallel bars''.〔("1948 Summer Olympics – London, United Kingdom – Gymnastics" ) ''databaseOlympics.com'' (Retrieved on 28 March 2008)〕 He received four medals at the 1952 Summer Olympics in London. He also was the originator and name giver of the stalder circles, nowadays a very common skills on both the high and the uneven bars.
